Strong Season Opening Performances Lead to Weekly Awards

PRINCETON, N.J. – Ivy League field hockey opened the 2021 season with eight wins as Columbia and Harvard posted 2-0 records to earn the first weekly award of the year. Columbia’s senior forward Kelsey Farkas was dubbed Offensive Player of the Week, while sophomore goalkeeper Sofia Castore turned away five shots to earn Defensive Player of the Week.

Ivy League field hockey, which has finished in the top-5 of conference RPI 10 times over the last 12 years, registered 29 goals across the opening weekend as Brown, Columbia and Harvard began the season 2-0.

Led No. 19 Harvard to a 2-0 weekend
Registered five saves as the Crimson defeated Maine and Providence
Recorded her first career shutout in win against Providence
Harvard has won five straight games overall dating back to the 2019 season
