TAMPA, Fla., July 15, 2021 – The University of South Florida men’s tennis program secured several recognitions from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for academic achievements during the 2020-21 year. Five student-athletes were honored as ITA Scholar-Athletes, while the entire squad was named one of the ITA’s All-Academic Teams.

Senior Pierre Luquet (Draguignan, France), juniors Sergio Gomez Montesa (Valencia, Spain), Chase Ferguson (Melbourne, Australia), Niels Van Noord (Hudson, Quebec, Canada) and freshman Alvin Tudorica (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) were all named Scholar-Athletes by the ITA.

“We are always excited seeing this sort of success in the classroom.” head coach Ashley Fisher said. “We are building a culture based on the pursuit of excellence in everything we do and at the top of that list is academics. Our student-athletes overcame so much in the last year and we are very proud of them.”

For consideration, ITA Scholar-Athletes must have a GPA of 3.50 or higher. For recognition as an ITA All-Academic Team, the program must have an overall GPA above a 3.20.
