Arsenal are expected to recruit another central midfielder next summer and Youri Tielemans continues to be on the Gunners’ potential transfer list.

Tielemans’ memorable moments in Monaco

The Gunners will lose Mohamed Elneny in the summer while Granit Xhaka’s future is being left open to rumors that he will move to Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma. Even if Xhaka stays at the Emirates Stadium, Mikel Arteta will still have to sign a new shuttle midfielder, to partner Thomas Partey.

 Tielemans is on Arsenal’s radar.

Goal revealed that Arsenal held direct talks with Youri Tielemans’ agent in January, but ultimately the deal was not completed. Now,  Arsenal decided to pursue the 24-year-old again when this season is over.

He only has one year left on his contract with the host team at the time of June 2022 and will most likely not renew with Leicester. This also helps Arsenal not to spend too much money for Tielemans.

It must also be added that former captain Wes Morgan of the Foxes once praised the Belgian as a “special” player. Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola called Tielemans a “world-class”. This season, although Leicester are not in good form, Tielemans has pocketed 6 goals and 2 assists in the Premier League arena.

Obviously, the midfield trio of Tielemans, Partey and Martin Odegaard will make Arsenal extremely noticeable if the Belgian player joins the Gunners in the summer.
