The Hewlett Packard Enterprise Houston Open concludes Sunday with Scottie Scheffler at the top of the leaderboard with a one-shot lead going into the final round after a 1-under 69 in Round 3. The tournament began Thursday at Memorial Park Golf Course with a nice field featuring the course’s design consultant — who also happens to be a four-time major championship winner — prominently involved.

The course will play a starring role as well, depending on the weather. Though the 7,000-square-foot green complexes are rather large, the way they’re designed (multi-tiered) and the way they’re setup (hopefully fast and firm!) creates myriad problems and allows the better players in the field to rise to the top of the leaderboard by the end of the week in Houston.

This is probably the last best chance of high-quality golf against what could be a difficult track until 2022. With Koepka looking to bounce back from a missed cut last weekend and most of the rest of the field looking for win No. 1 of the still-young season, this tournament should be a good one. And if the wind blows a bit and the course plays as firm as it did last year, it could go from good to great and will likely be one of the better viewing experience on the entire fall slate.
